Documentaries tonight will include the history of Black Sabbath

If you missed last night’s TV premier of Iron Maiden’s Flight 666 movie, then you’re not totally out of luck. Tonight is ‘Metal Night’ on BBC4; a whole night of metal-based programming for you to raise the horns to.

Throw that stereotype of BBC4 being a stuffy old-man’s channel with nothing more than snooze-tastic documentaries out of the window, and get ready to start a pit in your living room. Maybe.

There will be four different programs shown tonight from documentaries to classic live performances by bands such as Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath, as well as a full live gig from Maiden’s ‘Somewhere Back In Time‘ tour.

It really may be the first time for any of us to tune in to BBC4 without feeling the need to be wearing a dinner jacket while elegantly sipping a large glass of brandy in front of a roaring fire. Posh enough mental image for you?

Tonight’s listing is as follows:

  • 9pm – Heavy Metal Britannia documentary
  • 10.30pm – Heavy Metal At The BBC (inc. Black Sabbath, Motorhead and Iron Maiden)
  • 11pm – Iron Maiden In Concert: Somewhere Back In Time (2008)
  • 12am – Rock Family Trees: Black Sabbath
